Using the DataChan app
- You need to be legally allowed to use a smartphone app where you live.
- Scans you submit become part of a shared, public verification record — stick to shelf tags in stores you’re actually shopping in.
- Guest mode needs no account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, keeping that account secure is on you.
What DataChan is (and isn’t)
DataChan reports what shoppers saw. It isn’t a party to your purchase, and it doesn’t guarantee any price. A Verified tier means strong evidence, not a live promise.
Using it fairly
Don’t submit fake scans, don’t try to game a price’s tier with coordinated fake submissions, and don’t use the app to harass retailers or other shoppers. We can remove data or access that breaks these rules.
No warranty
The app and this site are provided as-is. We’re a nonprofit running on volunteer and donor-funded resources — we can’t promise the app is always up, or that every price is error-free.
Changes
We’ll post updates here and update the date at the top. Using the app after a change means you’re okay with it.
